Domestic and FamilyViolence
Domestic violence involves patterns of abusive behavior used by one partner to gain power and control over another in an intimate or familiar relationship. Domestic and family violence can take various forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse. Domestic violence has serious consequences for victims’ physical and mental health, often leading to trauma, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
Safety planning, counselling, and advocacy services are crucial for supporting survivors and holding perpetrators accountable. At Reach Life, our goal is to recognise and offer support, education, and guidance when signs of domestic violence or precursors like coercive control arise. We strive to collaborate with victim(s) to ensure their safety and empower them to find options and choices. It’s important to recognise that domestic violence can come in many forms. In some instances, it may be a child or teenager who is violent.
At Reach Life, we maintain strong networks with local services, such as Naala Djookan, women’s refuges, housing support services and women’s health services. These partnerships enable us to provide comprehensive support to victims recovering from domestic violence.
